I began my quest for lighthouse pix along the East Coast in Rhode Island, but before long, I turned the motorcycle and headed towards Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The Cape is a nice ride in the off season and features a long “well lit” shoreline. The absence of tourists made travel easy, and in a day I was able to photograph some well known lights that were easily accessible. One of those stops was the Highland Lighthouse. You can learn more about the Highland Light by internet search or the link to it’s Wikipedia page.

I arrived late in the afternoon. The grounds were relatively empty, but I envisioned a more brooding evening image, and didn’t have time to wait. I decided I’d create what I wanted in my head.
Dusk is settling in on the Cape on a late summer evening. Perhaps there’s an approaching front from the sea? I “lit” the lamp in the beacon’s Fresnel lens, and then illuminated a room upstairs in the cottage for the keeper’s wife. Satisfied, I swung the motorcycle around and headed for home. I wanted to get home before the approaching storm that never existed.

Glad you liked it. I’ll be “stringing” more lights together in future posts. Each has it’s own unique story, real and/or imagined!
