I will briefly hop of topic on this blog to throw in with the other responses. Before I could write the post, I felt I had to define the question for myself, as “spirituality” has a different meaning, depending who you ask.
An AI definition popped up in the sidebar on my search of the prompt:
“Spirituality generally refers to a sense of connection to something greater than oneself, often involving a search for meaning in life. It can encompass religious beliefs, personal experiences, and practices like meditation or reflection, and is distinct from organized religion.”
At first I wrote a long post for this question, then deleted most of it.
In replying to the above description, I would say:
“I’m not spiritual at all, ” but that might not be true.
I don’t really care how the universe was created. I don’t wish to unravel the mysteries of existence. As a youth I sought these answers, but in my autumn years, I’m no longer interested in finding out the what’s and why’s of life.
I only know that I am here. I am here now. I can, in a moment, stop and observe and enjoy the amazing world of creatures that I exist with on this planet. This mindfulness, is it spirituality? Perhaps, but I don’t attach divine meaning to the ability to be self aware, but respect and appreciate my existence in the ecosystem, as well as all the life forms in it. I can look upon our world in wonder without the needing to know more. I’m grateful, not spiritual. It’s enough for me.
So, am I spiritual? Maybe…

I love this. I had a similar reflection and I also consulted chatGPT and it gave me the same meaning it gave to you!π«ΆπΏ

I enjoyed your post as well, it’s a difficult subject to reflect on, but you did so wonderfully.
