Les Andelys: Arrival

We stood on the observation deck of the riverboat. The white chalk cliffs were a sight, towering over the village homes as we approached the dock. The Seine created the formations long ago as it wound its way through Normandy. High above the town on the cliffs overlooking the river, Richard the Lionheart built his castle. The ruins of Château-Gaillard still stand guard over the meander in the river. It’s a good stretch of the legs and a steep climb to the castle gates. Perhaps a croissant and cup of coffee in the village before you go?
