Lessons From The Infantryman

“Take care of your feet, and they will take care of you” I read this somewhere, and have repeated it often, usually whispered under my breath to remind myself of it’s importance when a hiking companion is struggling through a multi day hike with blisters and hot spots. I wish I could find it’s origin to make a rightful attribution.

I did see a recent post on wearethemighty.com by Ruddy Cano, where he noted “Feet are the infantryman’s Cadillac”.
It’s a great article on how to care for those pups we rely on to carry us through life.

If you’re going to pump out long miles with a pack on, you’ve got to care for those feet beyond the pricey boots you bought at the boogie outdoor equipment store.

Soaking, moisturizers, nail care all play a role as well as the right socks.

Ultralight and expensive gear won’t matter if you’re hobbled by pain miles from your endpoint.
