Following the Fire Warden’s Trail, we reached the campsite in Avery col. The rumble of thunder could be heard in the distance, but we were still below tree line.
The ascent to West Peak was a fast scramble by those of us that needed the mountain for our hike list. Some stayed below and rested, having summited these peaks in the past.
At the summit, we could see Avery Peak in the distance. Converging thunderstorms on either side of the mountain were visible, approaching the summit. Could we make it out and back before they reached the mountain?
