“Now I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds”. These words, from the Bhagavad Gita, were recalled by J Robert Oppenheimer, the architect of the atom bomb, not long after it’s test detonation.
We cannot now put the genie back into the bottle, and the “nuclear club” grows every year.
The question of when, not if, they will be used grows daily, with politicians threatening their use on a regular basis.
Would it’s un-invention do anything to stop nations from going to war? Certainly not.
It would however, delay the destruction of our planet from occurring in a matter of hours to a more reasonable number of millennia…
