On a bright and sunny morning, the coach took us past the landmark, an icon of Paris. A blizzard of images, fragments of stories and film filled my head. I had to get off this bus. I needed to go there on foot and see it for myself. I did come back eventually, and visited several times before the devastating fire. Photographing Notre Dame well, eluded me- perhaps it was the fact that I was actually there, with it in front of me, that psychologically impeded my efforts. Perhaps it was because it was so big! This grainy, glared image is my favorite.
