It’s not uncommon to come across a dying tree in the forest that’s become a wilderness sculpture. The woodpeckers have been here at work. They don’t harm healthy trees, but a tree that is infested with insects (lunch for Woody) become odd looking works of art gracing the trail.
The voids then become nests for the birds, squirrels or shelter for other animals.
