The Long Trail, Rutland, Vermont USA
It’s warmer today, and my mind is called back to dawn on the Long Trail in Vermont. Waking when I want, hiking as far as I like. Stopping when I wish. Changing your life schedule every year, at the whim of a group of people in a place far away is foolish. Yet we allow it to happen. The silliness of this capitulation to companies and their puppets, our elected officials, is no more apparent than on a week long hike in the backcountry, where time is a social construct that I find of little use.
