President’s Day

McKinley Trail, Catskills New York, USA

Today in the U.S. many have the day off for the national holiday named in the title. Originally created to celebrate George Washington’s birthday, it later was modified to reflect and honor the service of all the past U.S. Presidents. The government later modified the date to fall on a Monday to boost consumer spending and create a long holiday weekend.

Jack is a minimalist and a frugal old yankee. He does not participate in the sales and shopping events that have taken the place of the holidays original intent, nor does he give much thought to the past leaders of the republic. If the current president is any yardstick of the need a holiday, Jack would recommend changing the name altogether. Perhaps just “Car Sales Ads Weekend” would be a good choice.

It is nice to have a three day break. Jack is sitting back drinking a cup of tea and taking it easy. He finally returned to the Catskills of New York State to collect a few mountains. It was a gorgeous day, and a rewarding one. He leaves you here with an image on a mountain trail, as he unpacks the days events.

The rest of the story will come eventually.

I love minimalism too – not hardcore minimalism but I do use everything I own :-) What brand of tea do you drink?

I am not a connoisseur by any stretch, but I like PG Tips.

Try Yorkshire Tea – the best. I have the decaf version but it’s still so full of flavour.
